HEYA 2016! How are you doing??? I am doing pretty poorly, as is usual in January, because no matter where you live or study, January means EXAM TIME! I mean, if you’re a student. If you’re not a student then January doesn’t mean exam time. But for me, over the last… million years or so, January meant exam time and exam time means procrastination time. So what I’ve done is as a break from studying really hard I’ve been in the process of ‘overhauling’ my website!
I actually have some plans for my blog now, and I’ve been working quite hard at making everything work as I want it to, and look how I want it to… I’m not 100% there yet, but I couldn’t wait any longer so tah-dah here it is! I also plan on updating a bit more regularly, like mentioned in my impossible list. This has been some sort of continuous ~vague idea~ since I started this new blog in 2013, but it never got off the ground. I am hoping 2016 is when it changes! If you’re new here: welcome! I hope you like it and stick around
Back to the point of this post! My January has been looking pretty boring because I’m doing a lot of studying, presentations, deadlines, exams, etc. But in between the studying I have luckily had a little bit of time off with Normal Guy – like last week we went to a 90s party and it was a lot of fun to unwind by dancing to nostalgic tunes, something we hadn’t done in a while.
I realise I never actually explained the Glitch & Shark thing!!! Okay, well… when we went on a trip to the UK in the summer of 2015, we created a stupid hashtag on instagram because we are stupid social media nerds like that. The stupid hashtag is #glitchandsharkuk and we picked that because his derby name is Gangrene Glitch and mine is Sparkle Shark, which I never even mentioned on my blog before but now I have, so there is that.

Also, put next to each other like this I realise I am really tiny ;___; so so tiny
So the ‘team’ name Glitch & Shark has stuck and now I’m just gonna use it on this blog too because I am a sappy nerd
This Sunday, he came up to Tilburg where I live now, and we decided to have a bit of date time. We went to Bagels & Beans, a Dutch chain which has been a favourite of mine for years now. Their chai latte is so goood! And the bagels are delicious. I’ve been going there since before I was vegan but luckily they have vegan options too. Actually if you pay attention in vlogmas day 5, we actually had “bagel burgers” at this same place! Pretty cool that they do that now I hope they keep them because it’s really good!
Normal Guy sneaked this picture of me as I was just thinking to myself how much I looove chai, haha. As for food, this time around we didn’t want to go for bagel burgers but just regular bagels. He had the “chicken” teriyaki bagel. Doesn’t it look amazing? It really does taste like chicken, which is kinda weird if you’re vegan, haha! But it tastes really good and doesn’t involve animal abuse, so yay! The sauce is totally delicious too.
I had a pretty simple bagel with avocado and pesto. I say simple, but it was really yummy. Looking at the photo again just makes me hungry. Other than avocado and pesto there’s tomato that you can’t see, and lettuce and cucumber. This pesto is homemade and vegan, and it’s sooo tasty! Also I really love avocado, so by the time I had finished this bagel I was perfectly happy and satisfied.
It had actually snowed in Tilburg that day! The sun and snow made this church look extra pretty. We walked around the city centre for a little bit, to take in that cold air and look at the sales. (The only thing we bought was fairy lights in the Christmas sales, haha!) There was something going on, something to do with carnaval, which confused both of us because we’re not from around here. But there were many people in the city centre, stereotypical oompapa music and clashy colours and funny hats. After some time, we decided to go back home to have dinner while watching Bolt. I love that movie, it’s so funny! Or maybe I should say fully awesome haha.
We played around a bit, taking selfies with the fairy lights on my bed… don’t ask me. (≧▽≦) Sadly it was time for an early night’s sleep because we had to wake up super early for work and study. Mondays are really the worst, not just because you have to go back to work, which is actually fine if you like what you do. But lately, it means saying goodbye, and that’s especially hard after having had such a lovely day together. It’s been getting me down lately that we live in different cities and only get to see each other on the weekends. It was extra short this time because we only had one day, but I think we made the most of it and I can’t wait to see him again *sapsapsap* I’ll stop whining now, haha. I made this post to say I had a lovely day and I really did!
Okay, this is the last time I will say how much it annoys me that we can’t be together all the time. It would be pretty horrible to be stuck together all the time! Somehow it’s also kinda nice that we get to make these moments special. It was nice to unwind and have food, walk around in the fresh air, watch a movie, just some us time. I think that’s really important and I’m really grateful when we have these little adventures together. (▰˘◡˘▰) I can’t wait for the next one!
